Bulletin of Works Solicitation for the 9th Taihu Award Design Competition & High Value Patent Cultivation Competition of the 16th China (Wuxi) International Design Expo

In order to thoroughly implement the national innovation-driven development strategy, serve the high-level opening to the outside world, and achieve the requirements of high-quality economic development, further accelerate the transformation and upgrading of creative design and traditional industries, improve my country's design and intellectual property protection environment, and awaken the public to protect original and respect design Awareness, the 2020 Ninth Taihu Award Design Competition and High-Value Patent Cultivation Competition will be held.

  二、Second, theme and purpose  


Design leads, intelligent life


Purpose: The theme of this competition is "Design Leads · Smart Life", which aims to showcase the technological innovation advantages and industrial supporting advantages of my country's manufacturing industry, exchange the advanced level of my country's design with the outside world, awaken the public’s awareness of intellectual property protection, and enhance public awareness Respect for original design. At the same time, the competition will also build a highly influential comprehensive platform for exchanges and cooperation in the field of design in my country, and use this competition and the China (Wuxi) International Design Expo as an opportunity to polish the host city of Wuxi as the "Capital of Design and Intelligent Manufacturing in China". business card.


三、 competition group


  There are two groups of "creative group" and "product group" for solicitation and review in this competition. The main categories cover:


  Intelligent technology (wearable devices, electronic communication, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, interaction and interface, mobile communication, etc.);


  Equipment manufacturing (mechanical equipment, transportation, new technical equipment, etc.);


  Household products (home appliances, furniture, lamps, kitchen and bathroom products, smart home systems, medical and health products, sports and leisure, etc.);


   Other categories (public facilities, education and entertainment, cultural and creative design, clothing design, trademarks, etc.)


   Among them, the creative group: to collect and appraise innovative works that have not yet been mass-produced. It can be a conceptual design for future production and lifestyles, or alternative solutions to traditional products, and it is highly feasible.


  Product Group: To collect and appraise works that have been designed or mass-produced, and the entries are required to be innovative, practical, beautiful, economical and safe.


   四、Scope and requirements


   Companies, institutions, universities and research institutes, design offices, independent individuals and groups all over the world can participate, and the following conditions must be met:


  1. Participants must have independent intellectual property rights for the submitted entries;


  2. No unit or individual has filed a related application to the State Intellectual Property Office of China for the same creative concept or product before the submission date of the work;


  3, the same creative concept or product can only be submitted to one competition category;


4. Entries in the creative group must be original conceptual design works with independent intellectual property rights such as appearance designs. The published works are the same or similar, and have won second prizes or above in global or national design competitions or Product schemes designed for third-party services require Party A’s authorization agreement to participate. Any legal liability caused by the plagiarism of works, theft of trade secrets, etc. of the contestants shall be borne by the contestants, and the contest organizing committee shall have the right to unilaterally cancel their qualifications for participation and awards at any stage of the contest;


  5. The entries in the product group must be products that have been industrialized or will be industrialized in the previous year by companies and design institutions, have no intellectual property disputes, and have not won the competition awards. Participate with tangible and high-value industrial products and consumer products, and reflect innovative design points in the appearance, structure, material, function, color or combination of products, and have practicality;


6. Contents submitted for the competition: (1) Fill in the application form for competition (see attachment); (2) Two design layout drawings, electronic files in JPG format; the layout is A3 format (297mm*420mm), and the resolution is 300dpi; To typesetting. The content should include the name of the work, overall renderings, structural drawings, partial renderings, basic appearance dimensions, photos of physical works (mandatory for the product group), design instructions (in Chinese and English), and work introduction (the author’s name and any Mark, otherwise it will be regarded as an invalid work). Attached to the publicity map (for online publicity docking), the required format is 600×450 pixels, which can fully express the overall effect of the creative work.


  7. The final entries in the competition must reflect creativity and innovation in graphics, models, videos, products, etc., and submit corresponding roadshow defense materials. The organizer entrusts Jiangsu Sunshine Huiyuan Intellectual Property Operation Co., Ltd. to provide free intellectual property application services for the finalist creative group works. The product group needs to submit intellectual property authorization certification materials.


  The physical objects or models of the final finalists must be exhibited at the Taihu Award booth of the China (Wuxi) International Design Expo, otherwise it will be deemed to have voluntarily given up the qualification.


   五、 Judging criteria


   (一) Creative Group:


  1. Innovative (40%): In line with the theme and purpose of the competition, with forward-looking, novel, fashionable, original, and in line with the aesthetic trend of modern society;


  2. Feasibility (30%): In line with the theme and purpose of the competition, fully considering market value, and under the conditions of modern manufacturing technology and reasonable cost, it is feasible for mass production;


  3. Completeness (20%): In line with the concept of energy saving and consumption reduction, green and environmental protection, consider the use of people and environment, user experience, etc.; special works also need to consider corporate culture and brand image;


  4. Form of expression of the work (10%): The work has a strong comprehensive performance ability and can fully express the design intent of the contestant.


   (二) product group:


  1. Innovativeness (30%): In line with the theme and purpose of the competition, with independent intellectual property rights, rational use of new materials, new technologies, new processes, and solving new problems, play a leading role in the industry;


  2. Economy (30%): high cost performance and customer satisfaction, suitable for market demand, and good market prospects;


  3. Functionality (20%): reasonable functional structure, convenient operation, safe and durable, and good after-sales service; providing new functions and new uses is conducive to improving lifestyle;


  4. Aesthetics (10%): Harmonious modeling and color, distinctive style and characteristics, exquisite detail processing, in line with the trend of the times;


  5. Sociality (10%): Pay attention to ecological and environmental protection, insist on sustainable development, save resources and energy, and be easy to recycle; design people-oriented, pay attention to disadvantaged groups; carry forward historical traditions and highlight regional culture.


   六、Awards


  The organizing committee will commend the award-winning units and winners, and issue certificates, trophies and bonuses. The awards are set as follows:   


Taihu Award Design Award 1 group, a bonus of 1 million (500,000 cash + 500,000 landing support) / certificate / bonus. One million includes: 500,000 cash rewards, office space, and talent apartments up to 300,000 rent reductions for 3 years, intellectual property pledge credit loans not exceeding 10 million yuan, intellectual property pledge loan interest discounts, and insurance subsidies not exceeding 1 million yuan.


   (2) Creative Group


   "Creative Group" will select three categories of Taihu Award Creative Design Gold, Silver and Bronze Awards, among which:


  Taihu Award Creative Gold Award 3 groups, 50,000 yuan/certificate/trophy


  Taihu Award Creative Silver Award, 10 groups, 10,000 yuan/certificate/trophy


  Taihu Award Creative Bronze Award 25 groups, with a bonus of RMB 5,000/certificate/trophy


   (三) product group


   The "Product Group" is divided into three categories of Taihu Award product design gold, silver and bronze awards, of which:


  Taihu Award Product Gold Award 3 groups, 100,000 yuan/certificate/trophy


  Taihu Lake Award Product Silver Award 10 groups, 20,000 yuan/certificate/trophy


  Taihu Lake Award Product Bronze Award 25 groups, with a bonus of RMB 5,000/certificate/trophy


   (四) Non-selection awards


  Taihu Award for the most marketable brands/trophies/certificates in the top ten design fields


   Best Guidance Award 5 groups, with a bonus of RMB 5,000/certificate


  The best organizers in 5 groups, with a bonus of RMB 5,000/certificate


   5 groups of the best organization colleges, trophies/certificates


  Due to national policy restrictions on charter activities, this event was signed by the organizing committee.


   七、 supporting activities


  1. Works Incubation Service


   During the competition, many domestic and foreign venture capital funds, incubators, crowd-creation spaces and other incubation resources will be gathered to communicate face-to-face with original designers or design teams, explore the implementation of outstanding design projects, and promote the industrialization of the results of the competition.


   2. Design communication


   Related forums will be held at the 16th China (Wuxi) International Design Expo. Participants will have the opportunity to have face-to-face exchanges with famous designers from well-known design institutions at home and abroad.


   3. Media promotion


   Promote the entries in TV media, online media, print media, social media, etc.


   八、 Results management


   (1) The intellectual property rights of the entries in this competition belong to the authors. The competition organizing committee has the right to promote, display, publish and other forms of promotion and publicity for the entries in this competition. Without the authorization of the author, no unit, individual or third party may redesign, produce, sell, publicize, publish, exhibit, and other forms of promotion and publicity of the works of this competition, otherwise the author has the right to pursue legal responsibility.


   (2) For entries with industrialization prospects, the organizing committee of the competition can organize participants to connect with the corresponding companies to industrialize the design results.


   (3) Compile promotional materials for competition activities, display and promote them at home and abroad, and expand the visibility and influence of the competition.
